One Beautiful Dessert Table for Christmas

12/24/2015

Comments

Hello everyone and Merry Christmas to you and your family!!
I hope you are well and spend some quality time with your family and friends. This Christmas Eve I would like to share this beautiful dessert table that was created by Felien from  Decor 'N Dessert Diva who creates some beautiful dessert tables.  Scroll down and read all the details behind this beautiful table.
Red and Green Christmas Dessert Table
It was my first time being in a collaboration and I loved it! The cake has crushed candy cane sprinkles!
I knew I wanted gold white red and light green as my theme! I had a Pinterest inspiration board that helped to give me ideas.

The chocolate covered Oreos have hand piped buttercream flowers on top The cupcakes also have buttercream flowers
There's also gem and pyramids with crushed Oreo inside- very trendy on dessert tables now too- with edible gold colour paint on them.

Amy Atlas was the first Dessert Table Designer I saw years ago when she was on the Oprah Winfrey show. It wasn't until two years ago when I organized and styled my Sister's baby shower that I caught the dessert bug lol! It was just last year that I started learning to bake and decorate. This is a part of me that I never knew was inside! Growing up I was always "The Piano Teacher"   So this is all a surprise to my Family and Friends as well.

Merry Christmas everyone!"

Almond Pastry Mince Pies Recipe
Hi everyone, I am looking at the photo above and I feel that the happiest time of the year is getting closer and closer.
Saskia from Saskia Bakes has shared this homemade recipe, scroll down and read what makes her merry and of course don't forget to use this recipe this Christmas.
What's more festive than the taste of a homemade mince pie, still warm from the oven!? This recipe uses a pastry made with ground almonds for a slightly nutty bite, which makes a lovely rich and crumbly shortcrust!
Ingredients
225g Plain Flour
50g Ground Almonds
85g Caster Sugar
175g Butter
1 Egg Yolk
1 Jar of Mincemeat
Icing Sugar for dusting

Directions
Put the flour, a pinch of salt, ground almonds and sugar into a food processor and pulse until combined.
Add the butter (diced) and process until the mixture resembles fine bread crumbs.
Add the egg yolk and process until the mixture comes together to form a soft dough.
Wrap in cling film and chill for 15 minutes until firm.
Heat the oven to 180C and roll out the chilled pastry to about 4mm thickness.
Use a medium round cutter to stamp out 12 circles and push these into your greased mince pie tin.
Fill with each pastry case with a teaspoon of mincemeat.
Stamp out lids for your pies (you can use a circle cutter to create a whole lid, or use star shapes etc and lay them on top of your mincemeat, pushing the edges down onto the pastry cases.)
Brush the lids with a little milk.
Bake for 20 minutes and leave to cool for several minutes in the tin before removing and placing on a cooling rack.
Once cool, dust with icing sugar.
Have a recipe you want to share? It's simple !!! Click here to share.
Till next post Happy Baking guys!!!

Spiced Mulled Wine Recipe

12/16/2015

Comments

Hello everyone, this time we would like to share a Drink Recipe that has been sent and shared by Happy Foods Tube.
It always interesting to read the story behind a recipe or a creation you make. I enjoyed reading her story and even imagined I visited the place she has visited. If you have a recipe for the holidays that brings up some good memories, please do not hesitate and share it with us.
So a few days ago we decided it was the right time to make one at home. We enjoyed every bit of it –making it, drinking it (obviously) and “fishing” for the raisins and almonds from the bottom of our mugs. The aroma of spices had spread throughout the house and lasted for hours.

The mulled wine has also brought back some memories from last year when we visited Christmas market in Tallinn. It was absolutely amazing experience and we were so lucky with the weather as well. It was cold. Ok, it was freezing but it was SNOWING when we arrived. Big thick snowflakes were falling down from the skies and in the evening when the lights went on you thought you were in a fairy tale.

So if you are thinking of making this warm beverage any time soon then this is the recipe for you! It’s simply delicious. You can omit the extra bit of alcohol (rum, brandy) if you prefer it that way. However, raisins and almonds go hand in hand with this drink so I suggest you keep them in your drink rather than omitting them. Believe me I know what I am saying as I am not a big fan of raisins. This was our second attempt (trying to get the right balance of flavors) and I think it’s the real deal!
Scroll down and follow the recipe shared by Happy Foods Tube.
Spiced Mulled Wine Recipe
Ingredients
1 Bottle Red Wine (750 ml)
1 Orange
1 Lemon
A Few Ginger Slices
10 Cloves
10 Cardamon seeds
2 Cinnamon Sticks
100ml Rum (Brandy or Whisky) – optional
4 Tablespoons Sugar
1 Teaspoon Orange Zest
A Handful of Raisins
A Handful of Almonds

Makes: 4 portions
Preparation: Preparation 10 minutes + Cooking Time 15 minutes

Directions
Pour the wine into a saucepan, add cloves, cardamom seeds, 2-3 slices of ginger, cinnamon sticks and sugar. Throw in about a teaspoon of orange zest, 2-3 orange slices as well as lemon slices. Pour in freshly squeezed orange and lemon juice. For a lighter version add 100ml of water.

Bring to the boil, let the sugar dissolve and reduce the heat to the lowest point.

Let it simmer slowly for 15 minutes so the spices have time to infuse the wine (make sure it’s not boiling otherwise you could end up with a non-alcoholic version).

Right before the end pour in rum (optional).

Meanwhile:
Roughly chop some almonds and throw them altogether with some raisins into mugs or heatproof glasses and pour over strained wine.

Garnish with an orange slice and serve hot/warm. Don’t forget the spoons so you can fish out the almonds and raisins!

Mont Blanc a Traditional French Christmas Dessert

12/16/2014

Comments

Hello everyone, we continue to post your favorite Christmas Recipes so come on and share your special one.
Today we would like to thank Dina from Miettes who shared this yummy dessert.

Dina has shared her scoop about this yummy dessert:
This is a traditional French Christmas dessert, other than the famous Buche de Noel! It is a decadent and festive dessert that will make everyone wanting some more. It is called Mont Blanc as the original dessert was shaped with mounds of chestnut cream in the shape the famous mountain.
Picture

Ingredients

This recipe yields around 20 verrines.
400g (approx. 1lb) crème de marron (chestnut spread)
400g (approx. 1lb) purée de marron (chestnut purée)
1 kg (approx. 2 lbs.) Crème Chantilly (heavy whipped cream)
½ kg (approx. 1lb) meringue (small size)
Pinch, cinnamon powder
2 Tablespoons Cognac or Rum

Chocolate Sauce (optional)
3 ½ tablespoons excellent cocoa
½ cup sugar
½ cup water

Directions

1. Mix the chestnut spread and purée together with rum/cognac.

2. Whip the cream with a bit of powdered sugar (I don’t put much because the chestnut mix is already very sweet).

3. For the chocolate sauce: bring water and sugar to a boil until sugar is dissolved, then add cocoa and beat well with a whisk. Leave sauce aside until it gets cold.

4. Assembling the verrines: put the chestnut spread in a bag with a tip (use any tip you like) and the cream in a bag with a tip (also use any tip you like). Start by adding a bit of chestnut spread on the bottom, then cream, then meringue; repeat one time to end with a meringue on top. Sift some cocoa powder on top of meringue. Serve with chocolate sauce on the side (that will be poured inside the verrines).
