The Story behind this Cake
I made this cake for a 90th birthday and keeping it simple yet elegant was key. Hence I combined the technique of the ruffled look on the bottom tier with the naked ganache on the top tier. I used the color yellow as I found it complimented the dark chocolate ganache very well.
This look topped with sugar succulents, pompom dahlias, leaves and berries, completed the cake design.
For the sugar succulents and pompom dahlias, I used the Craftsy class 'Modern Sugar Flowers by Nicholas Lodge'.
The cake itself was chocolate flavored filled with Swiss buttercream. The rustic design of he cake was a perfect fit for cake designs that I love .
