Vintage 21st Birthday Cake

The Story behind this Cake
This is a beautiful three tier cake I made for my daughters 21st birthday last year, in a vintage style , as she studies fashion and art at Leeds College of Art and embraces all things vintage.
This cake comprises three differently flavoured tiers. The bottom tier is traditional fruit requested by Charlotte herself, middle tier chocolate and the top tier a luscious lemon Victoria sponge.
I mixed all the colours for the fondant and buttercream using dusky pink for the pink and dark brown for the taupe, just a very small amount or it would be too dark.
I used a ruffle nozzle to pipe the buttercream on the top which had to be done in situ.
I made the banner with my daughters name on out of sugarpaste and painted the spots and stripes on with edible colour. I then added the letters made with cutters and attached with edible glue to a ribbon before attaching to the cake.
No room for error there! Hope you like it. Ines xx
