Game Night Birthday Cake

The Story behind this Cake
I wanted to make a cake for my son's birthday that incorporated all of his favourite things... Burger, FIFA for the xbox and his beats. Everything is edible (apart from the skewer).
This was a chocolate baileys Madeira cake filled with chocolate ganache. The burger is made to looks so realistic by making fondant mice with a potato ricer and spraying it with brown airbrush paint and a liberal coating of shell and shine by by Dawn Butler. The beats are made out of Renshaws modelling paste. They are fully edible. Finally the xbox game is a printed image. I used icing sheets from The Cake Decorating Company. The beats were made free hand. I traced around each earphone of my sons beats then joined them together to create the template. I then cut this out of satin ice gumpaste which I left to dry into shape by using the beats as a template. The potatoes are made of marzipan. No mould was used. I shaped the marzipan into a potato shape then cut them as I would if making potato wedges. They are then airbrushed once dry. I am really pleased with the result but the best bit was that my son loved it! Share a cake by VS Cakes |
