Puzzle Baby Shower Cake |
The Story behind this CakeOut of all the baby shower cakes I have created over the years, this one really touched my heart. One of my sweet customers called me and asked me to design a baby shower cake for her sister. The theme was to be about puzzles; "I Was the Missing Piece."
The family will be adopting a baby girl. This warmed my heart to hear, as this is one of the most unselfish acts one can do. Adoption is such a wonderful thing! For the cake design, I thought an unfinished puzzle with one piece off to the side would be nice. Then I had the idea to make the puzzle as a children's drawing of a family. I hand painted the drawing on fondant and made indentions that make it look like a puzzle, using the puzzle cookie cutter. There is so much joy in a simple drawing of a family. I have always cherished drawings like this from my children. When I heard it was going to be a puzzle theme, I immediately thought of fondant puzzle pieces in pastel colors, on top of cupcakes. I created fondant pastel colors and cut out puzzle pieces with a small cookie cutter. The simple white frosting with pastel colors looked great.
The family loved the cake and cupcakes! It was such an honor for me to create them for this loving family and their upcoming adoption. The baby will be the "missing piece." Share a cake by Samantha's Sweets |
