Tigger 3rd Birthday Cake
|
The Story behind this Cake
This cake was for a little boy who was turning 3 and was in love with tigers! Therefore I chose to create a cake with Tigger in Winnie the Pooh as I found it to be super cute.
I practised and prepared the fondant Tigger a couple of days in advance to make sure that I have the perfect one. I mainly followed a tutorial I found on Youtube (below you can watch this movie) but made a few minor changes. For example instead of cutting black fondant for the body stripes, I drew them on when Tigger had completely dried. The cake itself was a chocolate mud cake with ganache filling.
I coloured my fondant in brown, then rolled it out and using modelling sticks drew lines of different thickness' to create the tree trunk texture. I cut a rectangle shape out of this, the same size as my cake, and covered all around the cake leaving the top part just covered in ganache. Then using edible glue I stock a door cut out of a lighter shade of brown fondant. What was left to do then was to glue Tigger and add some flowers, roots and leaves to dress it up. It was a simple cake but it turned out to be one of my favourites! I enjoyed making this cake a lot and my client was also very pleased with the result. Happy baking everyone!
