Sweet 15th Butterfly Birthday Cake

The Story behind this Cake
Hello everyone! My name is Eliana, but everyone calls me Ellie, and I'm the owner of My Little Kitchen, www.facebook.com/ellieslittlekitchen and www.mylittlekitchen.webs.com .I begun baking and decorating back in 2010. I have to be honest, I never thought I will get to love it so much, but I do! It's what drives me, my passion. I love making all this sweets for the people I love!. So, this time, I worked on a sweet 15th cake for my friend's daughter. It's a vanilla cake, filled with whipped cream and strawberries (a combination that I personally love!). The decorations are made out of fondant. The inspiration was the party decoration. Everything had pink tones with very delicate touches.
Here is the recipe that I use in this occasion: Ingredients
Instructions I always mix butter and sugar first, add eggs, vanilla extract. After, add all the dry ingredients that are left, and finally add the buttermilk. Bake in preheated oven at 350 F until top looks light brown. Use toothpick to be sure cake is ready. This is one of my favorite recipes! Hope you enjoy it! I wrapped the top tier with a lace ribbon, in hot pink and silver colors to match the dress.
The butterflies were created with a silicone mold, the small flowers and roses were cut with flower shape cutters and then I molded them. For the roses that have a pink color, I used a brush and an eatable dust to "paint" them. I also have to let you know that the butterflies were not edible, because of the small plastic diamonds that I added to them in their wings. To create the ruffles for the first tier, I first rolled the fondant really thin, then cut close to 80 circles and shaped them as if I were to make a rose. After, when there were a little dry, I proceeded to place them on the cake from bottom to top. Thank you for letting me share my work! Love, Ellie. Share a cake by My Little Kitchen |
