Frozen Coronation Tiara Birthday Cake
|
The Story behind this Cake
The cake was made for my daughter Anastazja's 4th Birthday party.
She is a huge fan of the Frozen movie (like me) as well as queen Elsa's. The party theme was "Frozen" . The cake, all the decorations, matching cupcakes, Anastazja was dressed as Elsa have matched the theme. We had many guests coming hence the size of the cake. I've seen many Frozen themed cakes lately and came to a conclusion that I should do something different with it (not only white and blue colours) than anyone else has done before. I loved the princesses coronation dresses/outfits and that inspired me to design this cake. Princess Anna was wearing beautiful green gown with floral theme going on (middle cake) and princess Elsa was wearing greenish/blue long dress and fuschia pink cape and some flower embroidery (top tier). I have designed the bottom tier to match the snowy/wintery theme. The original design had Elsa's crown on the top which unfortunately broke on assembly, however I always wanted to make an Elsa topper, luckily I have found tutorial by Yunjung Cakes which helped me a lot as it was first figure of that kind for me. Top tier of the cake was a very moist chocolate cake (followed by Paul Bradford's recipe) filled with chocolate ganache. It was covered with fuschia pink sugarpaste (Sugarflair) and embossed with some flowers (I bought embosser from Poundland). It was finished by adding some edible sugar pearls. The middle tier was a moist carrot cake ( followed by Planet Cake book) filled with cheese cream frosting. It was covered with three shades of green stripes (sugarflair), embossed with flowers and decorated with edible sugar pearls. The bottom cake was a white chocolate mud cake (Planet Cake's recipe) filled with white chocolate buttercream and it was coloured blue inside. It was covered with blue and white sugarpaste to represent the snow. It was decorated with sugar snowflakes covered with glitter. The cake board was covered with white sugarpaste with embossed snowflakes and decorated with a Frozen themed ribbon I have found on ebay. Two other cakes were finished off with diamante ribbons also bought through ebay. All the cake was sprinkled with an edible baby blue and white glitter by Rainbow Dust. My daughter was over the moon and I've received many nice comments about the cake, suggestions for improvement were taken on board too. I have learned a lot making this cake.
