Teddy Bear 1ST Birthday Cupcakes

The Story behind these Cupcakes
I had so much fun creating these cute cupcakes for a little girl's 1st birthday. The only directions her mum gave me, were that she wanted teddies, some pink and white and special cupcake for the Birthday girl. This was my absolute heaven, I love when people trust in my creativity and the results are always so much better when I am given freedom to design. I scoured Pinterest and found a pic that I wanted to use as colour inspiration. I loved the combination of green, pinks and white. From here I just started making. I love adding small details like texture onto fondant or the gold hand painted detail around the tops of the bows.
Pinterest is a wonderful source of inspiration! Its unbelievable what is out there. I find it's great to source a picture that is not a cake and then to work from there. If you try to copy someone else's design it will never be the same but if you draw on your own skills the possibilities are endless! For these designs I used all fondant no gum paste. I prefer modelling with fondant, when I can, as it's softer to shape into the cute and rounded teddy bear designs. To create the open ruffled flowers I use my rose petal cutter in three different sizes, I soften the edges with a ball tool and then layer them on top of on another to create a simple and pretty flower. I hope these little cupcakes might inspire you to create your own little modelled cupcakes. Happy caking everyone!!! Share a cake by Clare's Cake Design |
