Giant Flower Graduation Cake

The Story behind this Cake
This Giant Flower Cake was a graduation cake for a lady who loves flowers and butterflies and graduated the University of Arizona.
The graduation party was held at the Tucson Botanical Garden. The theme was large flowers and butterflies. The cake was a basic vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream. The cake consisted of two layers, one 6" and other 8". For the cake basic tools were used such as: a rolling pin and fondant smothers. The flowers were made of gumpaste. They were all wired flowers. Tools used: flower wires, different flower petal cutters and veiners, edible glue, small rolling pin and grove board. Most of the flowers were made by individual petals which were made and allowed to dry hard over night. I later used floral tape to assemble the flowers. Once the flowers were assemble I added a bit more color with petal dust. Pearls: These were made with fondant on a silicone mold and dusted with pearl luster dust. Cake assembly: standard stacked cake. I used straws to assist with weight. The flowers were also inserted in straws and secured with chocolate in order for the wires to not touch the cake. I love this cake because it's simple but yet very elegant. Hope you all enjoy and like my cake! Share a cake by Copcake Cakery |
