Purple Ombre Engagement Cake
|
The Story behind this Cake
My inspiration for the cake was my little girl, she would always make me pictures and she gave me one in particular which was a rainbow but instead of your regular rainbow colours it was pink ombre. I knew from looking at the picture she gave me that this was something I wanted to create in a cake.
The cake was for an engagement party which was being held in a beautiful local bowling club. The couple has given me a free reign "I know you'll make something special so just surprise me!" Two tiers were caramel and one chocolate. I made each colour myself for the ombre effect, started at the top and worked my way to the bottom rolling and thinning out the fondant at the top of each wrap using my finger to roll fondant back a little....... This was the effect I got from using this technique. The technique used was wrapping and thinning out the outer edges. To achieve the wraps to the desired thickness I rolled onto pre cut cling film sheets and instead of using my hands to lift each wrap I just lifted the clip film sheet it was rolled onto, this meant there were no flaws rips of tears to the fondant. So my recommendation dedicated tool to achieve this would be my trusted clip film. Cake was finished off with an acrylic topper. Share a cake by Zee Bee Cakes |
