Peacock Wedding Cake
|
The Story behind this Cake
This wedding cake was inspired by the beautiful feathered ring that was placed around the base.
Andrea wanted a peacock theme and use those colors. It was an outdoor wedding at Cascades Manor House, Jackson, MI. with the reception indoors. I never told her that I was making the peacock for a topper and the look when she saw it was a true priceless smile and tears. The peacock and tail were made from homemade white modeling chocolate (3 tries!), and the feathers were molded and hand painted. Next time I would use gumpaste; easier drying time. The feather mold I found on 'Sugarcast' an Etsy store. I used a CK lace mold to add some depth to the bird by making some lace pieces and laying them (overlapping) on the bird. Then brushed on CK luster dusts in the bright blue and white pearl while blues, copper, teal and purple on the feathers. I used the same mold to make the lace panels draped on the cake. The gumpaste lilies were some that I had made for my daughter's wedding earlier and had kept several bouquets for future use. Wedding cake: The bottom tier was Strawberry cake with Italian Meringue Buttercream, top tier Strawberry Cake with New York CheeseCake on top, Italian Meringue Buttercream, Modeling chocolate lace. There was also a half sheet Reese's Peanut butter cake covered with Fondarific fondant and 4 cheesecakes; Lemon, Marachino Cherry Nut, Turtle and Raspberry. I do have those additional pictures in the wedding Album titled 'Weck and Rebbeck' on my facebook page.
