Lace Butterfly Wedding Cake |
The Story behind this Cake
This three tier wedding cake is simple and elegant.
On the top and bottom tier I have used an Embossing Matt , I roll out my fondant bigger that cake size then lay the mat on the top push down until all the pattern is on icing , with mat turn it smooth side on fondant and Flip fondant onto the mat and place over the cake , gently pressing on to Cake . Middle tier is just plain white fondant. The beadings around the cake are done with a silicone mould using regular fondant dusted with snowflake dust or pearl dust . I have placed lace butterflies on the cake using the Claire bowman mat with the pearl mix.
Here is how I used the Clair Bowman mat with the pearl mix: Step 1. Take the pearl mix and put three teaspoons in a bowl then add colour if required & mix . Step 2. Pour the cake lace mixture onto the mat and smooth in all directions. Step 3. Place the mat as suggested in the steps in the oven for 10 mins half a gas mark. Step 4. Take out from oven and let it cool for 10 mins. Step 5. Return with pearl colour like in step 2. ( This way they will come up 3D) Step 6. Place the mat back in oven for 10 mins . Step 7. Take out of the oven and cool it once again . Step 8. Use 70 cm foil. Fold it up into halves until you a have two 8-10 cm halves , remove butterflies from mat & place butterflies over them and bake again for 20 mins then cool and place onto the cake using royal icing or cake box until need .
